I used to live a life where many would die for (literally ok). I had an amazing career, surrounded by the right number of friends and beautiful family I come home to. The bustle and noise were my most favorite thing ever. Never have I ever though I would give this life up for anything or anyone. Well guess what? You are right! Your girl did give it up and I am going to tell you why.
During one the most perfect vacation my family were on, my dear husband got the most anticipated call. He was offered the job he was interviewed for and it was time for him to go Singapore. The job he is the ‘most people’s dream’ job. I was extremely happy of course! If anyone deserves the best it’s always him in my eyes. Also, it meant we got to try out long distance relationship.
I on the other hand decide to make a drastic change which is to take over the family food business. I left the banking life I loved but pursing something new is what I really wanted. You wouldn’t know what you are capable of until you really try it right?!
The month of May came and my beloved left with a very heavy heart to pursue his dream job. It was hard at first, but we did it for first few months. Somehow, I just knew this was not a long-term thing. One evening my beloved couldn’t call to talk because he missed us so much and worried he would cry over the phone (I cried knowing this). That’s when I instantly decided – we are moving to Johor so that he can be closer to us and I can run the business remotely.
After months of planning, house viewing, going through school transfer process and huge amount of time spent on packing, we finally made the big move to Pasir Gudang – a suburb! Yes, your city girl gave up her city life to be in the suburb with her beloved and children.
I am grateful for all the changes even though it felt sudden. I knew all this while I can adapt to various situation and environment but to have it happen in real life really showed that I can do it.
Do I miss the hustle and bustle? Nope. I think I had enough of those. Anyway, the city is just 40 min away.
P.S I grew up in the same suburb and that is a story for another day
